Empire of the Ants is a video game released in 2000, developed by Microïds, and based on a novel of the same name written by Bernard Werber.

The real time 3D game is playable on a network with up to 8 players, and the game contains more than 60 species of insects and different animals. The game requiring strategy and management is set in the combative world of ants and their anthills.

This game was greatly under-appreciated by most video game players. It is a great RTS game that because of some minor problems in how the game is coded was let down. There were some bugs within the game which led to crashes, but because the game was coded in French, most modders did not want to deal with it. So a lot of the bugs and glitches that the game held sadly stayed.

If the Creators at Microïds, went ahead and re-released the game with a few upgrades maybe such as every race of ant playable, and customizable anthills from the start, the game could be a top-seller!

Although some bugs, the campaign of the game is solid in its gameplay, it's not just a walkthrough game, it takes some serious strategy if you want to get somewhere, and the skirmish mode, simply genius.

One thing about this game that really makes it shine is the soundtrack. The music that was composed by Nicolas Varley was a masterpiece and fit the gameplay mood extremely well, I would give the sound a 10/10!
